Vegan Chick-fil-A Sandwich

Vegan Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich

 

Ingredients:

 

-1 package Firm Tofu, defrosted (I defrosted and refroze it twice)

-2 cups Plant Milk

-1 cup Pickle Juice

-1/4 cup White Vinegar

-1 3/4 cups Flour

-2 tablespoons Baking Powder

-1 cup Water

-1 tablespoon Better Than Bouillon No Chicken Base

-Sliced Pickles

-Buns of choice 

-Oil for Frying

-2-4 tablespoons Hot Sauce (optional)

The Following Seasonings to Taste:

-Black Pepper

-Seasoning Salt

-Salt-Free Cajun Seasoning

-Garlic Powder

-Onion Powder

-Trader Joe’s Chickenless Seasoning

 

Directions:

 

  1. Prepare the brine by combining the plant milk, pickle juice, vinegar, and seasonings of choice in a large bowl. Mix well

  2. Drain and squeeze the water out of the tofu. Rip the block into about four  patties about the size of the buns you are going to use. Add the tofu pieces to the brine and marinate for at least two hours

  3. Prepare the batter: In a small bowl, combine 3/4 cup of flour, baking powder, and the seasonings to taste (about a tablespoon of each). Then, whisk in the water gradually until you get a pancake batter consistency. Finally add the Better Than Bouillon and whisk well to combine

  4. Prepare the dredge by combining the remaining flour with seasonings of choice to taste

  5. Dip the tofu pieces into the batter, then into the dredge, back into the batter, and then back into the dredge

  6. In a medium pan, heat about an inch of oil on medium high heat. Fry the tofu pieces until golden brown

  7. Place a tofu piece on a bun with a few slices of pickles. 

 

 

 

Chick-fil-A Sauce

 

Ingredients:

 

-2 tablespoons Vegan Mayo

-1 tablespoon BBQ Sauce

-1/2 tablespoon Mustard

-1/2 tablespoon Paprika

-1 tablespoon Pickle Juice

 

Directions:

 

  1. Place all of the ingredients into a small bowl. Mix well to combine.
