Vegan Steak Torta

Fried Beans
Ingredients:
-1 15.5 oz can pinto beans
-1 tablespoon of oil (I used canola)
The following seasonings to taste:
-Black Pepper
-Garlic Powder
Optional
-1 teaspoon “Better Than Bouillon” Vegetarian No Chicken Base
Directions:

Heat oil in a small saucepan

Add the entire can (including juices) of pinto beans to the oil. Heat beans until they start to simmer
-
Using a potato masher or two forks, mash the beans until smooth (you will still have pieces of the bean “skins” remaining)

Add seasonings and the Better Than Bouillon to beans and stir to incorporate
Steak Torta
Ingredients:
-Telera Rolls or roll of choice (I used Bolillos)
-Vegan Beef or any meat substitute of your choice (I used THIS one)
The following ingredients to taste:
-Vegan sour cream (I used Tofutti)
-Lettuce
-Tomato
-Avocado
-Red Onion
Directions:
-
Cut the roll in half, length-wise
-
Optional: gently the warm roll in the microwave by wrapping the roll in a damp paper towel and heating it for 15 seconds
-
Spread sour cream evenly on both sides of the bread
-
Place desired amount of beans on top of sour cream, on both sides of the bread

Add lettuce, vegan beef, avocado, tomatoes, and red onion
