Vegan Patty Melt

 

Ingredients:

 

-2 pieces of sliced bread

-1 vegan burger patty

-2 slices of vegan cheddar cheese

-1/4 of a small onion, thinly sliced

-1 small mushroom, thinly sliced

The following seasonings to taste:

-Black pepper

-Garlic salt

-Butter and nonstick spray for frying

 

  1. Heat a small frying pan. Spray enough nonstick spray to cover the bottom of the pan

  2. Season one side of the burger patty with pepper and garlic salt (or seasonings of choice)

  3. Place burger in the pan, seasoned side down. Season the top of the burger with the same seasonings

  4. Add mushrooms and onions to the same pan and season with pepper and garlic salt

  5. Sautée mushrooms and garlic until soft and cook the burger until well done

  6. Melt butter in a separate pan on low heat. Build the patty melt: place one slice of bread in the pan. Place one slice of cheese on top of the bread. Place the burger patty on top of the bread and cheese. Add the mushrooms and onions. Place the last piece of cheese on top of the patty, mushrooms, and onions. Finally, place the last piece of bread on top. You have essentially build a sandwich

  7. Using your hand or a spatula, press the sandwich down

  8. It is now time to flip. Carefully flip the patty melt. The first side should be golden brown

  9. Place a lid on the pan to help the cheese melt and cook the other side until the cheese has melted and the bread is golden brown
