This past week, I celebrated three years of being vegan. I’m not saying I never thought I would make it this far, but I can say that I am super proud of myself for what I have accomplished. When I originally went vegan, I didn’t do it for the animals or the environment, if I am being completely transparent. I made the change because I wanted to lose weight. At my heaviest weight of all time, I decided I wanted to make a change that would not have any wiggle room. As a new vegan, I didn’t know the tips and tricks t I know now, which meant I had to make all of my meals and be in complete control of what I was eating. I know this is not the reasoning a lot of vegans want to hear but truth be told, it’s not anyone’s concern as to why someone goes vegan. We should just be happy that they are here.
Over the past several years, I have learned so much while being vegan to the point that I think I am pretty good at it. And as I mentioned, I went vegan to lose weight but really did not intend on staying vegan this long. I thought I would do it for a year or so and then go back to my favorite things.
