What to Say About Cincinnati? (Sigh)

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to return to Cincinnati. Well, it’s kind of weird to call it an opportunity when I had to go. I had an audition at a school that I am considering attending and an in-person audition was the only option. And truth be told, even if there was a recorded audition available for my instrument, I would have still made the trip. I find playing for a panel way easier than stressing about getting the perfect take. Also, this wasn’t my first rodeo. I have auditioned for this school before, taken a lesson with the teacher, and almost matriculated last year. But due to a bunch of things not completely aligning (vague, I know), I was advised to apply again.

So here I was, on my way to Cincinnati not exactly excited to go. I mean audition aside; I knew I would struggle with finding good vegan things to eat. I wouldn’t call Cincinnati a vegan friendly city. It’s hard because there are certainly vegan options, but there aren’t many. And these ones aren’t very good. Some of the meals I had made me wonder if Cincinnati was unplugged from the rest of the vegan world. There have been so many advances and creativity made in vegan cuisine. It is surprising how far behind the vegan restaurants in Cincinnati seem.
